As a young graduate I had the opportunity to work with Shimmy Marcus on the publicity for his highly anticipated feature film Headrush. It wasn’t until eight years later that we would finally get to work together as Director and Producer respectively.
Shimmy wrote a wonderful little script called Rhinos:
Ingrid and Thomas are thrown together by circumstance. Despite a language barrier, they learn more about each other than they thought possible.
I knew immediately I wanted to be involved. Again, with a fabulous cast and crew, we shot this guerrilla style, self funded short film over two hectic days in Dublin.
While the film went on to win several awards, it was also nominated for an Irish Film and Television award, the coup de grace of the Irish film industry.
Audience Award, Brest International Film Festival, France
Audience Award, Cork Film Festival, Ireland
Audience Award, Green Bay Film Fetival, USA
