Dr. Emily Winifred Dickson was the first woman to receive a fellowship from RCSI in 1893. A woman who never allowed her gender to prevent her from achieving great heights in her early medical career. She fought male prejudice, patriarchy and constant objections to her position as a woman in medicine. Her actions and achievements broke boundaries and carved a path for women following behind her.
